Multi -Storey Car Park and Public Gardens

Works on an embellishment project which covers the area adjacent to Triq San Patrizju and includes the development of a multi storey car park and public gardens which will also serve as a buffer zone between the Freeport and the village will commence in the fourth quarter of 2019 and should be completed by mid-2023. MFC will be the major financial contributor to the project with some funds also coming from MFTL, the construction will be overseen by Projects Malta.

Warehousing Area Upgrade

Together with Customs, MFC is upgrading the fence surrounding the warehousing area, this is scheduled to be completed by the 3rd quarter 2019. EU Funds were used for this project the scope of which is to better secure the warehousing operations.







Resurfacing of South Road

With the collaboration of Infrastructure Malta, the road leading to the main gate at Malta Freeport (known as the South Road) has been completely re-surfaced after years of patching up jobs and discussions as to whether this road fell under the jurisdiction of the Local Council or Central Government. Enemalta have also re-installed the street lighting in the road.

Main Gate Canopy


During 2019, MFC together with MFTL completely refurbished the canopy at the main gate including the addition of more CCTV cameras and an automatic number plate recognition system. New barriers will be installed during the last quarter of 2019 to complete the full face-lift of the Main Gate

Security Vehicles Upgrade

Malta Freeport Corporation Ltd has also changed its patrol van fleet to brand new vans during 2019, the vans are essential for the performance of our Security Controllers constant patrolling of the area.

Electricity Network.

After lengthy discussions with Enemalta and the stakeholders involved, the Electricity Network at the Freeport was restructured and upgraded where necessary. The long winded exercise was concluded in April 2019. This project was long overdue and now caters for the stakeholders individually including brand new equipment in the sub-stations.
