The largest containership ever to berth in Malta called at Malta Freeport Terminals on Thursday 12th October 2023.
MSC Mette docked at the terminal two north quay where five huge quayside cranes were waiting to complete 4,250 container moves.
The ship is equivalent to four football grounds in length and can carry over 24,000 20-foot containers.
Dimensions including a length of 398 metres, a width of 54 metres, reefer plugs amounting to 1,254, a draft of 16 metres.
The MSC Mette was built in China and started operating last July. The ship is equipped with technology which allows it to operate more efficiently and reduces the negative impact on the environment.
This vessel will be calling regularly at the Freeport on the French Asia Line (FAL1) Service which is operated by the Ocean Three Alliance.
