Malta Freeport Corporation finances €500,000 for a new double glazing scheme for Birżebbuġia households

A second double-glazing scheme for Birżebbuġa households was launched by the Ministry for Tourism and Consumer Protection. This scheme of €500,000 is being financed by the Malta Freeport Corporation which falls under the remit of the Ministry for Tourism and Consumer Protection.

 All households in Birżebbuġa are eligible for the scheme, which reimburses 90% of the cost of double glazed apertures within the household to a maximum of €2,000. A minimum of 250 families are expected to benefit from the scheme.

This scheme follows the successful first scheme launched in October 2019, part of the Malta Freeport Corporation’s CSR programme, is aimed at assisting residents and households in Birżebbuġa to improve the quality of life in this town while also ensuring the continued success of the Malta Freeport’s operations.

 The scheme was officially launched on the 20th November at a press conference addressed by Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Julia Farrugia Portelli and Minister for Energy and Water Management Michael Farrugia.

 The scheme will be administered by the Regulator for Energy & Water Services. Applications open on Monday 7th December and close on 31st December 2021 or when the allocated funds are exhausted.​
